COSECSA Women in Surgery Africa (WiSA), in partnership with the Association of Women Surgeons Foundation (AWSF), USA, is pleased to announce the AWSF WiSA Travel Grant 2026.
This prestigious travel grant is designed to support female surgical trainees and consultant surgeons from the fourteen COSECSA Member Countries to attend the Annual WiSA Event and the COSECSA Scientific Conference.
The grant provides a USD 1,000 travel bursary to help cover travel expenses. Please note that only two (2) grants will be awarded this year.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a female surgeon or surgical trainee within the COSECSA region.
- Be a paid-up WiSA member.
- Be available to attend a half-day, in-person pre-course and symposium in Lilongwe, Malawi, on 1 December 2026.
- Be willing to participate in the six-month “Collective Wisdom in Action” Career Development Programme, featuring 90-minute virtual sessions held twice each month at times convenient for the majority of participants.
Application Requirements
Applications must include:
- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Two supporting clinical references, including one from the COSECSA Country Representative.
- Confirmation of paid-up WiSA membership.
