COSECSA Women in Surgery Africa (WiSA) is pleased to invite applications for the Prof. Faith Muchemwa Legacy Grant 2026 an initiative established to honour the legacy of Prof. Faith Muchemwa by recognising and supporting women in surgery through opportunity and inspiration.
The grant will be awarded to the female surgeon who submits the most inspiring theme for the annual WiSA event. The successful applicant will receive a USD 1,000 travel bursary to support attendance at the WiSA Annual Event.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a WiSA member and a COSECSA MCS/FCS trainee.
- Not have received this grant previously.
- Submit one original and inspiring general theme for the WiSA Annual Event.
- Ensure the proposed theme does not duplicate any previous winning WiSA theme.
The winning theme will be selected through a vote by WiSA members. In the event of a tie, a re-vote will be conducted within one week. The successful applicant will also be expected to attend the WiSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and deliver a brief presentation on the inspiration behind the proposed theme.
